Autumn is here

Autumn is here

The autumn has definitely arrived, with its usual display of leaf colour on the trees before they start to drop, and the odd storm finally giving our gardens the soaking they need after the long dry summer.

It’s time to put in bulbs for flowering next Spring, and we have a selection of Narcissus (daffodils), Allium, Tulip, Crocus, Hyacinth and others. Stock is limited so best to buy them sooner rather than later, even if you don’t plant them straight away.

The weather dictated that I cut down on stock over this summer unfortunately, so I wasn’t able to have theĀ  variety I would have liked, but autumn is THE BEST time to plant, as the soil is still warm but the temperature is lower, so the plants roots can settle in. If there is one thing the weather this year has taught us, it’s that giving your plants the best start in life can help them resist extremes of weather. If you want anything I don’t have in stock, please ask I may be able to source what you need.

Houseplants are now ON SALE, as the temperature is getting quite chilly inside the shop due to lack of sun, so you can green up your home for the winter months and save some money too. Don’t forget to keep them away from radiators as they don’t like central heating, which dries the air out. I also have a new range of Airplants in (not included in the sale), which look very unusual and are easy to care for.

Finally, wallflowers are coming in on Friday this week, now is the time to replace the fading summer bedding with new colour for the coming winter and spring.

Thanks,

Nick
